Science Museum with Lucy

A couple of weekends ago Lucy came from London for a day trip to visit us. The weather was horrible so we decided to go to @Bristol. I was a bit worried that there wouldn't be much there to interest a 13 month old, but Dominic had a great time. There were a couple of areas specially for under-8s. One was a fossil-hunting area where you could dress up as a dinosaur, dig for fossils and go through a pretend cave to see fossils in the walls. There was also an aeroplane area with a big plane you could go inside, pretend check-in/passport area, ride-on planes etc. Here's Dominic with a flourescent jacket on strolling down the runway......and playing on the ride-on planes.

The adults found plenty to amuse us too - it took us aaaaaages and many tries to build this arch...
...and here it is for the split second it stood up alone before falling over!

There was also lots of fun water machines including a giant hamster wheel you could run around in it to pump water up. Other exhibits included a fun womb experience, where you got to see what it was like to be inside a womb and be born (not sure it was that realistic!), lots of bubble making things, and fun machines to play with. Dominic's absolute favourite was the forest of fibre optic cables.

We were so impressed with it we got a year's membership so we'll definitely be back! It was brillant to see Lucy again after such a long time too and now we know that London is just a reasonable day trip away hopefully we'll get to meet more often :)
